Post The Dismount
on: August 16, 2012, 21:13

I was working up in the big barn cleaning pens and had gone out front to
dump my load. I noticed the morning dude ride returning to the barn.

Watching the rides leaving and seeing how they came back in tells you what kind of ride they had. I climbed up on the fence to watch.

Two of the people on the ride were mother and son. Both were fairly large people and for some reason it stuck in my head that mom was wearing lime green pedal pushers for her western adventure. Both of them were mounted on two of our half drafts.

Everyone else dismounted their horse some by themselves and some with minimal help. The mom on the other hand could not even stand up in her stirrups to dismount.

It was decided after some discussion that the son would get on one side of the horse and push his mother over and the wrangler would get on the other side and “catch” mom as she came off. Needless to say this was a slow process and the wrangler being less than half the size, was turning red trying to carry the weight of mom as she slowly dropped into his arms.

It all came off without a hitch but, I had to jump off the fence and run into the barn I was laughing so hard.
