At KJ BAR RANCH we specialize in Performance (Reining, Working Cow Horse, Cutting, & Barrel Horses), Ranch, Western Pleasure, Halter and Trail horses. We focus primarily on training and showing registered AQHA, APHA, Pinto, & Morgan horses.
Will specializes in reining and natural horsemanship. Will's natural approach to horsemanship is what makes him such a successful trainer. He offers young horses the training they need to take you to the winning circle in the arena whether it be reining, western pleasure, trail, barrel racing, dressage, or any other discipline. His young horses will have the foundation to take you in any direction even if that direction is leisure trail riding. Will believes that every horse should be safe for the horse handler and that every horse handler should be safe for the horse he or she is handling. Will also re-trains older horses and can teach you to communicate with your horse and be the leader your horse needs. We have over 60 years of combined training and instruction experience in riding and driving disciplines such as saddle seat, western, pleasure driving, coaching and specializing in combined driving. We train singles, pairs and 4-in-hands for driving and all breeds from minis to draft teams. Our instruction emphasis is on safe, and at the same time pleasurable riding and driving. Natural Training methods along with those of Classical Dressage are the basis for all of our training. We are just as proud of the students that confidently take their families out for an afternoon country road ride/drive as the ones that compete at national and international levels. We can also train your horse to perform at liberty, bow or lie down on command. Our instruction emphasis is on SAFE and at the same time pleasurable riding and driving. We incorporate natural training methods along with those of Classical Dressage in all of our training. We believe that a properly trained horse and a wise, well trained owner can enjoy many years of safe, incident-free driving or riding. When our students bond with their horse, and feel comfortable and safe while enjoying their horse (s) – no matter the environment –only then are we satisfied that we have done our work well.
Problem Horses
f you have a horse with a specific problem, don’t give up, there is an answer. Bring us your horse for an evaluation and we will either solve the problem with a period of training or it might just take as little as just one simple lesson for you and your horse. Our experience is the answer to these types of horses, and we have had a remedy for all that have come our way over the years.
Young Horses & Problem Horses
We believe that the initial training a young horse receives is crucial to the horse’s future and is the basis for a respectful, responsive and tractable horse. A properly handled weanling or yearling will later learn each new skill with an open and willing attitude as they mature, and will thrive on human interaction rather than resist it. My name is Jaime Buckner and I am currently in Sumner WA. I have been training and competeing on a National level over 5 years now. I have many succesful horses I have trained over the years who have become National, Regional, and District Champions. My specialtys are training halter, english pleasure, Driving, starting young horses, and horses with behavioral problems. I do train western horses as well but mainly have always had english horses in my barn.
