Piedmont Equine Practice Inc. Expands Service Area

The Plains, Va.—April 30, 2009 - Horsemen in the suburbs of Herndon, Great Falls, Clifton and other Fairfax County equestrian enclaves will now have the opportunity to call on the expertise of The Piedmont Equine Practice Inc. The Plains, Va.-based equine veterinary practice—established in 1996—will broaden the geographic range its veterinarians serve to include horses that live closer to Washington, D.C. “We’ve expanded our veterinary staff so we can fully commit to serving horse owners who have previously been on the outskirts of our coverage area,” said Dr. Joe Davis. “We know there are still horse owners who live in Herndon, Fairfax Station and Clifton, for example, and we’re now here for their needs too.” The Piedmont Equine Practice includes 13 veterinarians whose special interests include sports medicine, surgery, dentistry, emergency care, reproduction and alternative therapies. Several of these veterinarians are board certified in specialty areas and focus on continuing education to ensure that the horses they care for receive the most up-to-date treatments available. The veterinarians at Piedmont Equine Practice are truly dedicated to horses and to their mission of making cutting edge medical care available to every horse owner. Fairfax County horse owners can now call on Piedmont veterinarians for emergency services day or night, and horsemen whose horses require emergency surgery, such as colic, may now count on Piedmont veterinarians to provide such care at their new state-of-the-art clinic and hospital in The Plains, which opened in 2006. “It’s important to us to provide our clients with the best possible care whenever and wherever they need us, from routine preventative services to emergency surgery,” said Davis. “We hope horse owners will now think of Piedmont for all of their equine veterinary concerns.” In addition to emergency response, Piedmont veterinarians will also be available for wellness care, physical examinations and pre-purchase exams. The Piedmont Equine Practice also offers in-barn lameness exams and advanced diagnostics, such as digital radiography and digital ultrasound. Bringing such high-tech tools to the client is more convenient and allows for veterinarians to diagnose and treat a horse in the comfort and safety of his own barn. While the veterinarians at Piedmont are well known for treating equine athletes in all sports, they’re also relied upon to care for valued companion horses, trail mounts and retirees. “We are truly passionate about all horses,” added Davis. “Whether your horse is a trusted companion or an Olympic-level athlete, he’ll receive the care and attention he deserves at Piedmont.” For more information about The Piedmont Equine Practice Inc., call (540) 364-4950 or see www.piedmontequinepractice,com. Piedmont Equine Practice Inc., is located between Marshall and The Plains at 4122 Zulla Rd., The Plains, VA 20198. 5/1/09
